International Bird Rescue Rescue and Aiuká co-hosted the 2015 Effects of Oil on Wildlife (EOW) conference in May. This 12th EOW, held in Alaska, was originally planned to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill.
Canmore, Alberta was the site of the first ever, full day wildlife session to be held as part of the Arctic Marine Oilspill Program (AMOP) Technical Seminar. Co-chaired by Dr. Sherri Cox of the University of Guelph and Patrick O’Hara of the Canadian Wildlife Service, this 2014 session featured speakers from the Europe, Australia, the US and Canada.

Sea Alarm has made important steps in 2011 towards developing better preparedness for Arctic oiled wildlife incidents. Saskia Sessions was invited to make a presentation at the October meeting of the Arctic Council’s Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response Working Group (EPPR).
Sea Alarm presented a paper on Arctic oiled wildlife response at the International Maritime Organisation/World Maritime University Conference on Oil Spill Risk Management, which took place in Malmö, Sweden in March 2011.
