Definitions
The terms ‘we’, ‘us’ and ‘our’ refer to the Sea Alarm Foundation, an organisation founded by Royal Decree in Belgium on 17 December 2007 and registered as a Public Foundation (no. 0894.810.152) since 21 January 2008. When we say ‘you’, this refers to either a Member of a Sea Alarm Foundation initiative or project, or a person who visits any of our websites. These Terms of Service and Privacy Policy refer to the following websites: www.sea-alarm.org and www.eurowa.eu.
Terms
By accessing any of the websites mentioned under ‘definitions’ above, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms of service, as well as all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you should not use or access those websites. The materials contained in those websites are protected by applicable copyright law.
Use Licence
Permission is granted to temporarily download a copy of the materials (reports, articles and other information) on the Sea Alarm Foundation’s websites for non-commercial viewing only. This is the grant of a licence, not a transfer of title, and under this licence you may not (unless permission has specifically been granted in writing by the Sea Alarm Foundation):
- modify or copy the materials;
- use the materials for any commercial purpose, or for any public display (commercial or non-commercial);
- attempt to decompile or reverse engineer any software contained on the Sea Alarm Foundation’s websites;
- remove any copyright or other proprietary notations from the materials; or
- transfer the materials to another person or “mirror” the materials on any other server.
This licence shall automatically terminate if you violate any of these restrictions and may be terminated by the Sea Alarm Foundation at any time. Upon terminating your viewing of these materials or upon the termination of this licence, you must destroy any downloaded materials in your possession whether in electronic or printed format.

The Sea Alarm Foundation may make changes to the materials contained on its websites at any time without notice. However, the Sea Alarm Foundation does not make any commitment to update the materials.

Governing law
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Belgium.
Privacy policy
Your privacy is important to us. It is the Sea Alarm Foundation’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you across our websites, www.sea-alarm.org and www.eurowa.eu.
We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you, or when it is legally required. We collect it by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent. We also let you know why we’re collecting it and how it will be used.
We only retain collected information for as long as necessary to provide you with your requested service. What data we store, we’ll protect within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
Cookies – the website www.sea-alarm.org uses the slimstat_tracking_code cookie to log visits to the site. This information, which is only kept for 30 minutes, helps us to improve our website and is aggregated so you remain anonymous. It is used to analyse trends, track users’ movement around the site, track the number of people visiting individual pages and how often visitors get an error message.
We don’t share any personally identifying information publicly or with third-parties, except when required to by law, or when it is necessary for provision of our services. Personal information concerning members of the EUROWA Network and the GOWRS Project may be shared with relevant government and industry organisations within the framework of an oiled wildlife emergency response. Specific privacy procedures are in place for the EUROWA Network, for GOWRS project members, for Sea Alarm Foundation Board Members as well as for persons signing up to access material relating to events or to access downloadable animal care protocols published on our websites. Specific privacy procedures covering this information will be communicated separately to the relevant users.
Our websites may link to external sites that are not operated by us. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and practices of these sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy policies.
You are free to refuse our request for your personal information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired services.
Your continued use of our websites will be regarded as acceptance of our practices around privacy and personal information.
