Sea Alarm bids farewell to Edel Shanahan

We are sad to say goodbye to Edel who has recently left Sea Alarm after 4 great years with us. Edel has a varied background in zoology and environmental management, stakeholder engagement, communications and EU policy, having previously worked at the Nature Trust Malta, WWF and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Bringing this diverse experience into our team, Edel has been instrumental in helping Sea Alarm maximise its external communications reach and focus. She has assisted in the running of ongoing projects such as EUROWILD and has grown into a valuable trainer and facilitator of our WildX and OneX tabletop exercise packages. She has also given important support to wildlife response planning projects and preparedness discussions in several countries and helped to grow our database of national wildlife country response profiles.

Edel’s ability to learn and adapt, her pragmatism, easy way with people, and sense of humour will be very much missed. She is now moving onto exciting new challenges including broadening her language skills and qualifications. We are sure that the addition of the wildlife emergency response ‘arrow’ to her bow will be a great asset for the future.
