Sea Alarm has completed three new Country Wildlife Response Profiles: for the USA, Greenland and Iceland.
Oiled wildlife preparedness seminar in Norway
Sea Alarm was invited to present its views on European oiled wildlife preparedness and response at a national wildlife seminar in Norway. The seminar took place on 17 and 18th March in Oslo and was jointly organised by Friends of the Earth Norway and the Norwegian oil companies operating association (NOFO).
Cooperation with the European Community Shipowners Association
Sea Alarm was invited to make a presentation at a recent meeting of the European Community Shipowners Association (Safety and Environment Committee) in Brussels.
European oiled wildlife response developments
Sea Alarm hosted the 3rd meeting of key European wildlife response organisations at its office in Brussels in April. The group, which includes Sea Alarm, the UK’s Royal Society for the Protection of Animals (RSPCA), the Ostend Wildlife Rescue Centre (Belgium), and ProBird (Germany), meets twice a year to evaluate and further optimise their joint international response preparedness.

HAZWOPER course for wildlife volunteers in Washington State
After their meeting at the EnSaCo workshop in September 2010, Heather Parker of the US Coast Guard invited Hugo Nijkamp to attend a HAZWOPER course in Everett, Washington, in late February 2011.
Visiting wildlife responders west coast of US
In the days following the HAZWOPER course, Hugo visited various wildlife organisations based on the West Coast of the US, including Focus Wildlife, International Bird Rescue (formerly International Bird Rescue Research Center), Oiled Wildlife Care Network and WildRescue.
