Services > Sea Alarm's advocacy

Apart from various involvements at national levels, Sea Alarm is also active in international advocacy. The Foundation has brought the issue of oiled wildlife response preparedness under the attention of governments and industry. Sea Alarm has developed excellent relationships with international governmental organizations. The Foundation has addressed meetings of e.g. the International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Cooperation (IOPRC), the Bonn Agreement (North Sea States), HELCOM (Baltic Sea States) and has developed good working relationships with e.g. the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPC Funds) and the European Commission. Also excellent relationships have been developed with key organizations such as the International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation (ITOPF), the Maritime Insurers (the so called Protection and Indemnity Clubs, or P&I Clubs), and response organizations such as the OSRL/EARL.

Country Profile database

Sea Alarm is expanding its own database to include so called "Country Wildlife Response Profiles". These profiles, which eventually should include all of the coastal countries or regions in the world, are complementing the information in ITOPF's Country Profiles and should provide key information on a country's levels of preparedness for oiled wildlife responses.
